This means that the eggs are fertilized and reach maturity inside the belly of the fish, when the eggs hatch, then the fry are released through the mother and swim away. If the pregnant fish is under stress, then you may see premature birth like eggs and/or dead fry that haven't quite hatched. Sometimes the sperm does not reach all the eggs in the mollies' belly, and i have had instances where I have received about 40-50 fry, and a few are eggs or dead and under developed fry. The fish was not under stress, or I would not have received such a large brood of fry.Molly's are live bearers, meaning one who give birth to babies and not eggs. whenever a loaded molly is stressed or the water condition is not so apt, they tend to release the unhatched eggs.
