Polterabend is the term for a German wedding custom in which on the night before the wedding the guests break porcelain to bring luck to the couple's marriage. The tradition goes back to pre-christian/ heathen times, by breaking porcelain evil spirits are supposed to be driven off. In the last couple of years the anglo-saxon style of bachelor parties has become more and more popular among bachelors.
