You will keep your current number, and you would have to have international roaming added to your plan. If your only visiting and not planning on using your phone much then you can go with the standard international roaming. With that its a free feature you just pay by the minute to use your phone as well as it using your minutes. If you plan on using your phone alot there is what is called a world traveler package for $5.99 per month its feature that can be added and removed.
