It seems like you might be talking about informal recruitment though. That's very unstructured, and you just go to whatever chapters you want that are having recruitment events. Since you already know which chapter you're interested in, you could go straight to them (but I think it's a good idea to meet a few other chapters, because you never know. You might be happier in a different one). It's definitely okay to go alone. It will show that you have initiative. In informal, a lot of people do come with friends, but they get separated most of the time anyway. About selectiveness, that varies from sorority to sorority. if they are bigger and only have a few spots open (if they are at ceiling, they can't even do informal recruitment) they will be more selective.
